Robert Cohen has more than 25 years of retail real estate experience. He specializes in owner and tenant representation in major retail markets throughout the United States with special concentration in Los Angeles and Manhattan. He is responsible for overseeing RKF's Los Angeles operations.
Mr. Cohen began his career in Manhattan, and while now based in Los Angeles, he continues to play an active role in shaping the New York City retail landscape. Some of his more high profile transactions have included securing all three Manhattan Old Navy locations, stores for John Varvatos in SoHo and the Bowery, three store locations and the U.S. headquarters for Adidas, leasing 25,000 square feet to Prada for its SoHo flagship, securing Diesel’s largest flagship store on Fifth Avenue, six locations for Swarovski, a flagship for M•A•C Cosmetics in Times Square, and multiple locations for Polo Ralph Lauren and its Club Monaco and Rugby brands.
In the Greater Los Angeles area, Mr. Cohen has begun to make his mark on the retail real estate scene. His recent transactions include securing Dolce & Gabbana’s flagship on Robertson Boulevard; numerous locations for H&M including at The Irvine Spectrum Center, Americana at Brand, Third Street Promenade, Shops at Chino Hills and on Hollywood Boulevard; several locations for Polo Ralph Lauren including flagships on Robertson Boulevard and Melrose Avenue and stores for the brand's RRL, Women's Blue Label and Men's Purple Label at Malibu Country Mart; Adidas Y-3 stores at Fashion Island, Santa Row and on Sunset Boulevard; M•A•C Cosmetics at The Grove, Malibu Country Mart, The River at Rancho Mirage, Third Street Promenade and on State Street; and John Varvatos at Malibu Country Mart and on Geary Street in San Francisco.
Nationally, he has executed the expansion strategies for retailers including Agent Provocateur, CH Carolina Herrera, Oliver Peoples, The Swatch Group, Custo Barcelona, Swarovski, John Varvatos and Chrome Hearts. He has also secured locations for internationally recognized retailers including Giorgio Armani, Dooney & Bourke, Tourbillon, agnes b., Montblanc, Luigi Borrelli, Pleats Please/Issey Miyake, Domenico Vacca, Stussy and Anna Sui.
Currently, Mr. Cohen is executing national expansions for William Rast and Michael Stars, as well as the Southern California expansion for The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
As a landlord representative, Mr. Cohen has represented an impressive list of clients including Broadreach Capital, Levy Affiliated Holdings, CIM Group, the Whitney Museum, the Kalimian Brothers, The Related Companies, A.R.I. Investors and The Sherry-Netherland, Inc.
Mr. Cohen's current leasing assignments in Southern California include a 45,000-square-foot sublease on behalf of Banana Republic at 1202 Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica; 1,754 square feet at 801 South Grand Avenue in Los Angeles on behalf of Brickman Associates; 5,500 square feet at The Sunset in West Hollywood on behalf of Broadreach Capital; 31,914 square feet at 1550 5th Street in Santa Monica on behalf of Levy Affiliated Holdings; and a 2,225-square-foot sublease on behalf of Steve Madden at 106 West Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. In New York City, Mr. Cohen is marketing a 4,697-square-foot sublease on behalf of Club Monaco at 2376 Broadway.
Prior to joining RKF, Mr. Cohen was a managing director at Garrick-Aug Associates and before that he worked at Edward S. Gordon and Helmsley-Spear.
Mr. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Miami. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Real Estate Board of New York, Urban Land Institute and The Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce.
