With 20 years of real estate experience, Barry Fishbach specializes in retail leasing in the boroughs of New York, downtowns and suburbs of New Jersey and Long Island, and in investment sales in the greater New York City area.
Mr. Fishbach is presently marketing more than 1,400,000 square feet of retail space for lease, including Flushing Commons, a new mixed-use development in Downtown Flushing, Queens featuring 347,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. He also represents Wayne Towne Center in Wayne, NJ, a project that involves the conversion of a shopping center to a 680,000-square-foot lifestyle center. Leases have been secured with Dick’s Sporting Goods, Olive Garden and Chipotle. In addition, he currently exclusively represents retailers 24 Hour Fitness, PetSmart, Sports Authority, Zales, FedEx Kinko’s and Bank of America.
Recent leasing transactions he arranged include the leasing of 90-30 Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills, Queens to Trader Joe’s, Michaels and Staples, and a 31,000-square-foot long-term lease with PSK Supermarkets to operate a Foodtown supermarket at Restoration Plaza in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. Past transactions have been completed with Circuit City, Modell’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, P.C. Richard & Sons, Zales, Duane Reade, Foot Locker, CVS, Forever 21, Ballys Total Fitness, Rainbow Shop, Kinko’s, Design Within Reach and Applebee’s. He has represented such prestigious landlords as Blackacre Capital Management, Apollo Real Estate Services, Tishman Speyer Properties, Vornado Realty Trust and The Gale Company.
Mr. Fishbach’s sales transactions include the 141,599-square-foot Flatbush Center in Brooklyn for $35.5 million on behalf of Forest City Ratner, the 11,000-square-foot retail condominium at 49 West 64th Street in Manhattan for $7 million, the former 265,000-square-foot Caldor Department store on Fordham Road in the Bronx for $25,500,000 on behalf of Vornado Realty Trust, and 10-acres to Thor Equities on Shore Parkway in Brooklyn.
Additionally, Mr. Fishbach has handled the disposition of surplus property for numerous clients, including Federated Department Stores, Rite Aid, CVS, Citibank, Macy’s Department Stores, United Artists Theatres, Woolworth, and Loews Cineplex Entertainment.
Prior to joining RKF, Mr. Fishbach was a Director with Garrick-Aug Associates for eight years. Earlier, he was founder and principal of Metcom Properties, a Manhattan-based retail leasing and investment sales firm.
Mr. Fishbach is a licensed real estate broker and a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and is on its Store’s Committee. He is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from George Washington University.
