Restaurateur to open fifth Manhattan restaurant
NEW YORK, NY — Robert K. Futterman & Associates, LLC (RKF), the nation’s leading independent real estate firm specializing in retail leasing and investment sales, has secured a lease on behalf of Sarabeth’s at 40 Central Park South with Atco Residential Group Inc. The restaurateur took a total of 6,200 square feet at the 139-unit residential building.
Spencer Levy, associate, with RKF represented the tenant in the transaction. John Cinosky represented building owner Atco Residential Group in house. The site, located on Central Park South between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, was previously occupied by Atlas restaurant. Sarabeth’s signed for 5,882 square feet immediately and will occupy an additional 326 square feet once it becomes available.
“The existing build out of the space is well suited to Sarabeth’s needs,” said Levy. “This will be the restaurant’s fifth location in Manhattan and its new flagship. Sarabeth’s will definitely fill a niche in the area, which is currently underserved by restaurants.”
Neighboring retailers and tenants include Mickey Mantle’s Restaurant, the Plaza Hotel and Rumplemayer's.
In 1981, Sarabeth and Bill Levine opened a tiny bakery-kitchen to make and sell her preserves and baked goods. The little store, with its unique charm and wholesomely delicious products became an instant success with discriminating New Yorkers. Sarabeth's (East) made its debut in 1983, followed by Sarabeth's (West) in 1986, Sarabeth’s at the Whitney in 1991, and Sarabeth's Bakery at the Chelsea Market in 1998.
