Robert K. Futterman & Associates Expands Firm with Addition of Four Senior Real Estate Executives
07/01/2009

New Hires Join RKF in Firm’s New York, New Jersey and Los Angeles Offices

New York, NY – Robert K. Futterman & Associates (RKF), the nation’s leading independent real estate firm specializing in retail leasing, investment sales and consulting services, has recruited four top-tier senior brokers to join its team, enhancing the firm’s growing operations in its New York, New Jersey and Los Angeles offices. The new hires are Paul Monaco, Garry Steinberg, Glenn Beyer and Scott Lifschultz.

“Despite the challenges posed by today’s economic environment, this is an exciting time at RKF,” said Robert K. Futterman, chairman and CEO. “We are actively counseling our clients about effective ways to maximize the opportunities and meet the demands of the marketplace, and the addition of these top brokers adds strength to that strategy. We are aggressively growing our business, adding a wealth of experience and resources to enhance our services in key markets around the country.”

In the New York metro area, Mr. Monaco, Mr. Steinberg and Mr. Beyer join the firm’s expanding Suburban and Boroughs Team as managing directors. RKF Executive Vice Presidents Barry Fishbach and David Rosenberg oversee the firm’s Suburban and Outer Boroughs operations.

Paul Monaco is a 26-year veteran in leasing representation with a substantial track record throughout the Westchester, Long Island, Connecticut and metro-New York region. Previously, Mr. Monaco was a consultant and senior leasing representative for Acadia Realty Trust, where he managed the leasing for the newly acquired 700,000-square-foot Cortlandt Towne Center in Mohegan Lake, Westchester, as well as more than two million square feet of development and redevelopment projects throughout metro-New York and the outer boroughs. Mr. Monaco also served as senior leasing representative for DLC Management Corp., where he managed a leasing portfolio of more than 3.5 million square feet of retail properties. Mr. Monaco began his career at Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate.

Garry Steinberg is a leader in tenant and landlord representation throughout Westchester, the Hudson Valley, and Rockland and Putnam counties in New York, and Fairfield County in Connecticut. Mr. Steinberg joins RKF from First Service Williams (formerly GVA Williams), where he managed a retail leasing portfolio of more than six million square feet. Previously, he was the principal owner and president of 525 America, a successful contemporary knitwear company based in New York.

Mr. Monaco and Mr. Steinberg will be based in RKF’s Manhattan office.

Glenn Beyer will be located in the firm’s recently opened Rutherford, NJ, office. Mr. Beyer joins RKF with 13 years of retail leasing experience, representing owners/developers and tenants in Central and Northern New Jersey. Most recently, he was managing director at Metro Commercial Real Estate, Inc., where he represented landlords including Toll Brothers Inc., Sanzari & Associates, Scotto Properties, and Excess Space Disposition Services, as well as retail clients such as Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, CVS and Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Mr. Beyer joins Managing Directors Jerry Rockoff and Alan Retkinski and Associate Amy Staats in RKF’s New Jersey office.

RKF is also expanding its senior staff on the West Coast as the firm continues its growth in Southern California markets. Twenty-year industry veteran Scott Lifschultz joins RKF’s Los Angeles office as senior vice president. Previously, Mr. Lifschultz was founder of the retail brokerage division at First Service Williams, where he was executive managing director and partner, and focused New York City and Stamford, CT markets. Mr. Lifschultz has years of experience as a specialist in both tenant and landlord representation and is currently focused on consulting with retailers interested in strategic expansions. During his career, he has successfully negotiated leases on behalf of retailers such as Equinox Fitness, The Vitamin Shoppe, Walgreen’s, AT&T, HSBC Bank, Modell’s Sporting Goods and J.Crew, as well as landlords including Time Equities, Brause Realty and Marx Realty and Development.

Mr. Lifschultz previously served as director of retail for Blockbuster, Inc. and leasing manager for Blinds To Go. He began his real estate career at Garrick-Aug Associates, Inc. in New York, and has also served as retail director at The Greenberg Group in Hewlett, NY. Mr. Lifschultz was named a CoStar Power Broker for 2006, 2007 and 2008. He will report to RKF Executive Vice President Robert Cohen, who directs RKF’s Southern California operations.

“The retail landscape in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas is ripe with change, and RKF plays an instrumental role in many key retail developments,” said Mr. Cohen. “Scott is a seasoned leader in the business, and we are delighted that he is joining our dynamic team serving the Southern California market, enhancing the depth of our services to clients.”
