Fort Lee, NJ – Tucker Development Corporation (“Tucker”), a leading developer of shopping centers and mixed-use properties throughout the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions, has announced that Robert K. Futterman & Associates (“RKF”) has been named the exclusive retail leasing agent for Hudson Lights, Tucker’s proposed mixed-use redevelopment in downtown Fort Lee, N.J., that will include 185,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
Headquartered in New York City with offices in New Jersey, RKF is the market leader in retail leasing, investment sales and consulting services. A three-person team led by Barry Fishbach, Executive Vice President of RKF, will handle marketing and leasing for the project.
Since its founding, RKF has completed retail transactions totaling in excess of $9 billion and 12 million square feet. Headed by Robert K. Futterman, the company has revitalized several of New York’s most significant retail locations, including New York’s Union Square, Times Square, 34th Street, the Meatpacking District and SoHo, as well as the Las Vegas Strip. Major retail and mixed-use projects with which the firm has been involved include Time Warner Center and Grand Central Terminal in New York City, Miracle Mile Shops and Showcase Mall in Las Vegas, Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood, CA, and The Mercato in Naples, Fla.
The company also represents an impressive array of the nation’s premier retailers. Current and former retail clients include J. Crew, Adidas, Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Apple, Godiva, Intermix, The Swatch Group, Elie Tahari, Forever 21, Virgin Megastores, Barnes & Noble, Polo Ralph Lauren, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Design Within Reach.
“We have made a considerable investment into this property in Fort Lee and we have full confidence that RKF will assist in delivering the retail tenants that will help make this historic redevelopment a resounding success,” said Richard H. Tucker, President and CEO of Tucker Development Corporation. “Our goal is to attract the type of brand name retailers that will complement and address the needs of the Borough and create a destination of which the entire community will be proud.”
The retail component of Hudson Lights will include 185,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space with on-site parking. Tucker is hoping to attract national, regional and local retailers, to include a number of smaller, boutique shops. Fort Lee is currently underserved in a number of retail categories, which are proposed for the site.
“Hudson Lights represents an unprecedented opportunity for major retailers to take advantage of one of the most visible and well-situated projects in the New York Metropolitan area,” Fishbach said. “This development will provide Fort Lee with a true town center that the Borough has gone without for many years. Retailers will benefit from this extraordinary location and the opportunity to attract destination and local shoppers alike.”
Hudson Lights will be a nearly one-million-square-foot, mixed-use downtown environment featuring not only retail and restaurant space, but also 527 residential units, both rental and for-sale, and a 142-room hotel. Tucker intends to deliver to Fort Lee a true town center where residents can dine, live, work and shop. Considerable planning has been provided for on-site parking to complement existing street parking and a neighboring municipal lot that offers 412 spaces.
Hudson Lights offers accessibility to five major highway access routes and is located at the base of the two-level, 14-lane George Washington Bridge, which connects New Jersey to Manhattan and accommodates in excess of 300,000 vehicles per day (2007 figures). Further, there are seven bus routes servicing New York’s George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal, which provides further connectivity to Manhattan’s subway system, and an additional four bus routes servicing the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan.
