RKF Completes Lease for American Apparel in Chelsea
07/05/2005

Fashion retailer signs lease for 3,700 square feet on Eighth Avenue

NEW YORK, NY — Robert K. Futterman & Associates, LLC (RKF), the nation’s leading independent real estate firm specializing in retail leasing and investment sales, has completed a lease for a new American Apparel store. The apparel retailer signed a lease for 3,700 sq. ft. at 181 Eighth Avenue. It is American Apparel’s first entry into the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

Ariel Schuster, Managing Director and Marc Finkel, Director of RKF, represented the tenant. The store is scheduled to open August, 2005.

“Having worked with American Apparel for more than two years, we knew it was important to find the right mix of demographic, space and rent parameters that were realistic to American Apparel’s business,” said Finkel. “I think we did that very well here.”

“Chelsea is a great neighborhood for American Apparel. It has a lot of young, hip residents and visitors who are fashion-aware and embrace a relaxed fashion attitude,” said Schuster. “And 181 Eighth Avenue, between 19th and 20th Streets, is right in the heart of the Chelsea and enjoys tremendous foot traffic,” he continued.
