Ariel Schuster brings 20 years of retail real estate experience to his role as a Vice Chairman with RKF. He specializes in both landlord and tenant representation.
Since joining RKF in 2001, Ariel has grown his roster of landlord clients to include such prestigious owners as SL Realty Corp., The LeFrak Organization, Related Companies; Extell Development, Brookfield; Edward J. Minskoff Equities; The Winter Organization, among others. Ariel has represented SL Green in most of the REIT’s high profile retail leases, including Nike’s Global Flagship at 650 Fifth Avenue, Line & Friends at 1515 Broadway, and Coty’s first-ever Flagship at 719 Seventh Avenue in Times Square. He has masterfully negotiated retail leases totaling approximately 100,000 SF at four of Related Companies’ premier New York City assets and represented Edward J. Minskoff Equities on the 170,000-SF retail component at 270 Greenwich Street. On behalf of The Winter Organization, Ariel has arranged 58 retail transactions, the most significant of which were leases with global retail giant H&M at 111 Fifth Avenue and Madewell at 115 Fifth Avenue.
Ariel recently arranged a string of luxury retail leases, including Santoni’s US Flagship at 762 Madison Avenue and A. Lange & Sohne’s Flagship at 785 Madison. Representing ownership at 935 Madison Avenue, Ariel set the record rents achieved on Madison Avenue north of 72nd Street when he secured Moynat, Aquazzura, Joe Bananas, Golden Goose and Nespresso.
Ariel equally tends to the real estate needs of tenants, including Gap brands Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta and Intermix; Aritzia; Vineyard Vines; Pret A Manger; Itsu; La Colombe; Camper and PetSmart. As the Gap brands’ representative in the New York Metro area, Ariel has been responsible for 115 transactions on the client’s behalf, including arranging Gap and Old Navy Global Flagships at 1530 Broadway in the heart of Times Square, totaling 81,000 SF. He also represented Dean & DeLuca in establishing its Upper East Side location at 1150 Madison Avenue, and secured a 21,000-SF space for PetSmart at 1107 Broadway in NoMad. In 2010, Ariel completed the two largest supermarket leases in New York City: At 250 East 57th Street, he secured Whole Foods Market as the retail anchor of a one-million-SF development, and completed Fairway “Like No Other Market’s 45,000-SF lease at 240 East 86th Street, establishing the expanding chain’s first Upper East Side location. Ariel was part of the team that was awarded with the REBNY Retail Deal of the Year in 2010 for Fairway “Like No Other Market’s contribution to the growth of the Manhattan retail landscape.
Ariel has also successfully completed many high profile Investment sales transactions. He represented both the seller and buyer on the $24.8 million sale of 85 Fifth Avenue. He also was part of the teams that arranged the sales of 347 Bowery, 127 Seventh Avenue, 682 Broadway and many others throughout Manhattan. Ariel has leveraged his prolific leasing experience in SoHo to complete the sales of 70 and 138 Greene Street; 63 and138 Spring Street; and 434 Broadway.
Born in Jerusalem, Israel, at age 10 Ariel moved to the US and attended the prestigious Horace Mann High School. In 1999, he graduated magna cum laude from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in both Marketing and Finance. Most recently, Ariel received a Master’s Degree in Real Estate Finance from New York University.
Ariel is a licensed Associate Real Estate Broker in the state of New York and a member of both International Council of Shopping Centers and Real Estate Board of New York. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Israel Bonds Real Estate Division New Leadership Committee and is a City Harvest volunteer.
