Peter Whitenack is a Senior Managing Director with RKF, specializing in both landlord and tenant representation. Since joining RKF in early 2005, he has made a significant impact on the New York City retail market in both areas.
Peter’s tenant representation work consists of uncovering opportunities and seeking high-profile sites for national and local tenants, including Under Armour, Club Monaco, Ralph Lauren, Dylan’s Candy Bar, PNC Bank, CorePower Yoga and Flywheel Sports, among others. He recently completed a 53,000-SF lease on behalf of Under Armour for its New York City Brand House in the former FAO Schwarz space at the GM Building, 767 Fifth Avenue. Under Armour plans to open “the single greatest retail store in the world,” according to CEO Kevin Plank.
Peter represents an equally impressive list of landlords. His past and current ownership representation clients include The Durst Organization, Macklowe Properties, Brookfield Property Partners, CIM Group, The Related Companies and Kalimian Properties, to name a few. Recent transactions on behalf of ownership groups include representing The Durst Organization in its lease with Nordstrom Rack for 49,000 SF at 855 Avenue of the Americas, as well as Macklowe Properties in arranging a 44,000-SF lease with Whole Foods Market at One Wall Street, where Peter is still marketing the remaining 110,000 SF of retail space for Harry Macklowe. He was also involved in Nordstrom’s purchase of Extell Development’s retail condominium at 225 West 57th Street. Currently, Peter is also marketing approximately 70,000 SF in Brookfield’s One Liberty Plaza, where ownership is redeveloping a more retail-friendly experience with the consultation and expertise of the RKF team.
Along with his brokerage duties, Peter has helped with the development and execution of the firm’s Canvassing Program, where entry-level candidates are trained in the skills and experiences to become successful retail real estate salespeople.
Peter earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Colgate University. He is a licensed real estate salesperson in the state of New York and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers as well as the Real Estate Board of New York.
