Goldman Properties has acquired more land in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood with the purchase of mural project Wynwood Doors. The 31,000 square feet of land and 3,960-square-foot warehouse are directly adjacent to Wynwood Walls, a large collection of graffiti and street art from notable artists, which gives the neighborhood its distinctive look.

The company already has a major presence in the up-and-coming neighborhood, owning about 9.5 acres of land with nearly 200,000-square-feet of buildings, Goldman Properties managing director Joe Furst told the South Florida Business Journal.

The sale of the property, at 232-266 N.W. 26th St., officially closed Aug. 3. Sellers Ismailia and Ali Rashid were represented by RKF senior directors Benjamin Mandell and John Ellis. A Goldman Properties-affiliated company brought the property.

Goldman Properties founder Tony Goldman started Wynwood’s mural trend in 2009 and, with the success of Wynwood Walls, encouraged lesser-known artists to create murals at adjacent lots at 232-266 N.W. 26th St. (Wynwood Doors).

“The value of this property today, as compared to 15 years ago, is a testament to the growth of the Wynwood area,” Mandell said in a statement. “Given Goldman Properties’ longstanding success with the Wynwood Walls, we’re glad to see the Doors change hands to a local pioneering group like the Goldman family. It’s a great way to honor and preserve Tony Goldman’s legacy in Wynwood, the cultural center, and to continue Tony’s vision for the District.”

In addition to securing more properties in the area, Goldman Properties has developments in the pipeline. The company recently received city design approval for a mixed-use project with an artistic facade at 2660 N.W. Third Ave.

Along with 428 spaces, the eight-story building would have 20,594 square feet of ground-floor commercial/retail space and 23,618 square feet of offices on the top floor, where Goldman Properties will move. The development will help facilitate the continued growth of the Wynwood area, Furst said.

Goldman Properties also hopes to build G40 Wynwood, at 2700 N.W. Second Ave., with 54 residential units, 102 hotel rooms, 15,000 square feet of retail space and 47,252 square feet of office space. Furst said he hopes to break ground on the parking garage in 2016, and the hotel soon after.
